In daily life, PP or Polypropylene woven fabric has a lot of uses and applications, comprising a wide field. However, different types of it are available such as recycled and new fabrics. Ideally, when you say new or recycled, it does not refer to the fabric itself. Instead, it refers to the polypropylene material in the fabric. The production processes of both these types are different, and therefore, both these are quite different from each other.

Likewise, there are several other things to know and factors to consider when choosing PP fabric.  Therefore, it is elementary that you know the differences between them and choose the right type to meet your daily needs.

This article will guide you through and make it easier for you to make the right choice.

Right PP Woven Fabric, how to choose pp woven fabric

Know the Source

Right at the outset, you must be very clear about the source of the PP woven fabric or, to be more precise, the material. There are typically two different sources of polypropylene particles, each with different characteristics and properties.

If you choose the new material, they are virgin and obtained by direct decomposition of petroleum.

On the other hand, recycled materials are not new. These are new creations of waste woven fabric or bags.

Physical Characteristics

The physical characteristics of the woven polypropylene fabric will also influence your need and choice.

For example, virgin materials are typically white, bright, and very transparent. Of course, the manufacturers can also make them in different colors by adding different dyes.

Irrespective of your color choice, your primary selection criteria should be the following:

  • Tensile strength
  • Smoothness and

On the other hand, if you go for that dark or gray woven fabric, it will not have significant tensile strength.

Add to that, the color is also not fast and, therefore, may become dull and dim over time.

Consider Application

You must make your choice according to your need and application. This is necessary because different products have different qualities and properties that may sometimes limit their applications.

For example, if you want to use the material for packing food, you must look for a PP woven fabric manufacturer that makes only new PP woven bags.

Though it may cost you more, you will benefit from additional strength, which is lacking in recycled material.

Therefore, focus on the products you wish to pack and then make your decision.

Type of Fabric

The next important aspect to consider is the type of fabric you want to use. Usually, the PP woven fabric supplier will stock different types of fabric, but you will not need all of them.

To choose the best among the available options, you will first need to know the different types of fabric and their qualities.

Remember, it will determine the success and failure of your manufacturing process.

Here are some facts about the different types of fabric you should know to choose the right one:

  • Type A fabric is suitable for non-flammable items. This type of fabric does not offer electrostatic safety or static protection but is corrosion-free, even if you keep them outside.
  • Type B fabric is suitable for use in environments where explosions can happen due to sparks. This type of fabric does not spark and prevents it with the additional coating that creates space to break down the built-up voltage.
  • Type C fabric is good to use to transport highly flammable powder, resin, and chemicals. These are actually good conductors, but you will need to ground them. These are suitable for use in a few agricultural industries.
  • Type D fabric is antistatic, and they, too, do not spark and do not need grounding, being fully static dissipators. It will dispel the inert charge in the atmosphere instead of letting it accumulate and cause a spark. It has the same use as Type C fabric but cannot be used when there is grease or water on it.

Also, you will need to make your choice according to the product you deal in as well as the environment of your manufacturing plant.

The Yarn

Finally, you should consider the yarn type before making your choice. Typically, there are two specific types of parallel yarns in the PP woven fabrics, namely:

  • The warp yarns and
  • The weft yarns.

These two are woven together with the help of braiding and knitting kits. The warp yarns typically run longitudinally, and the weft yarn runs transversely. Depending on the process, the compactness and thickness of the fabric vary.

According to their weaving, the woven PP fabric can be of two types:

  • Reinforced and

If you need a material with a much higher tensile strength, choose the reinforced material over the ordinary PP woven fabric.

So, now that you have come to the end of this article, you are certainly more confident than you were before reading it. Use this information while selecting the best PP woven fabric for your needs.

If you still need some more help, consult with the vendor and refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for further details and requirements.
